Collections

Our library contains approximately 25,000 books, as well as a collection of magazines, map files, and online databases.

Works of fiction in the Town Library fall into four basic categories.

Our “E FIC” (Easy Fiction) collection lives in the Story Area, a cozy annex in the back of the library that houses approximately 8,000 picture books, as well as numerous shelves of folklore and fairy tales.

Short chapter books are shelved in the “J FIC” (Junior Fiction) section, near the stairwell exit. Popular J FIC series books like the Magic Treehouse books and Nate the Great stories are arranged on a red display case in front of the main J FIC shelves.

Longer chapter books are labeled simply “FIC” (Fiction) and are shelved in the library’s main room. These books tend to be written at a third-grade and above reading level, but students in all grades are welcome to borrow them.

We also have a small but growing collection of “YA” (Young Adult) fiction, which only 6th, 7th, and 8th graders may borrow. These books live on the rotating rack near the main entrance of the library, conveniently next to our YA Graphic Novel collection, which includes both traditional graphic novels and popular manga series.

Non-fiction books at Town are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal system, which means that books with similar topics will be shelved together. If you are unsure of how to use the library catalog or how to interpret your catalog search results, Ms. Wolfram or Ms. Alonso will be happy to help you out.
