Since our library has over 24,000 books (really!), it is sometimes hard to find the exact book — or even the exact shelf — you’re looking for. This is why we’re working on attaching labels to each and every shelf in the library. For example, the first two shelves in the non-fiction (true books) section of the library are now labeled “unsolved mysteries” and “questions & answers,” since these are the topics that books on these shelves cover. Archive for the “searching” CategoryDo you ever wander into the library and realize that you have no idea what you want to read next? Lately we’ve been trying to help readers like you find exciting new books. We’ve started up a “Spotlight On…” table in the front of the library, we have a Book Finder Binder behind Ms. Wolfram’s desk, and now we’ve even added lists of good reads to our catalog. You’ll find these lists by opening up the library catalog and then clicking on the button labeled “Reading Lists.” It’ll look something like this: So next time you’re looking for a good fantasy book, or a chapter book about animals, or maybe a non-fiction book about pirates, give our reading lists a try. And if you have ideas for new reading list themes, let us know! P.S. There are candy canes on Ms. Wolfram’s desk today. Come and get one before they all disappear. If you’re the type of person who has trouble deciding what to read next, ask us about our Book-Finder Binder. The Book-Finder Binder is a blue binder full of reading recommendations arranged by genre, with titles, call numbers, and brief descriptions of many different kinds of books. Like many things in the library, the Book-Finder Binder is a work in progress. Right now, it lists good books in the following categories:
We’re adding new categories every week, though, so check back soon for updates. And let us know if there’s a particular category you’d like to see — Ms. Wolfram and Ms. Alonso are always happy to take suggestions! |
