In Chapter 6 of The Golden Rat, we meet a “salt girl,” a child whose job is to wash dead fish in a bucket, salt them, and wrap them in lotus leaves. What do you think this little girl’s backstory is? Who is she? Where does she come from? Does she have parents? A family? Where does she live? What does she eat? How does she survive? Use your imaginations!

I think a salt girls life is very hard because there is little pay in her hard working job! Also, i think they stuggle each night for shelter. Last of all, i think they don’t really have one home.

I think this girl has no family, is poor, eats rice from the rice shop with dirt, she survives by getting jobs with the salting the fish, lives at wo pu, she came from her parents but they died from a deadly disease.

She is a poor girl who is working for her family to make money. she is a salt girl. I think she has one parent. She comes from a poor family whos father died. She lives in wopu with her mom. She eats whatever is in the trash can. She survives by going to work at the dock everyday.

She was born in a small town near the docks. Her family was very very poor and every day they tried to find work but could never do it. So they resorted to theft assulting people in the showdows. One robbery went wrong and some guards took them and exucted them. When their doughter found out she knew that she needed work so she went into the docks and found a job cleaning fish
